Billy, Danny, Diane, Gloria and families, we were so sad to hear of Irene’s passing. She was one of our favorite aunts. I was always excited to see her whenever she would visit Antigonish. In August, 2018, we met Irene and Andrea at a family wedding in Ottawa. I was so surprised and excited to see her and it was so sweet of Andrea to accompany her. From our conversations over the years, I knew that Irene was a great Mom and grandmother. I still remember the day she arrived at our home on Brookland Street, back in the 60’s and Gloria and Diane were wearing beautiful dresses that Irene had sewn from her hand-me-downs and without a pattern. Her talent was unbelievable. Every time I watch the movie “The Sound Of Music”,I think of her. Hold onto all the wonderful memories to help you through these difficult days. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
My deepest condolences to Bill , Dan, Diane ,Gloria and their families. Irene was such a kind and generous soul and raised a strong and beautiful family.
Our sincere condolences to Bill Danny Diane & Gloria & all their family. I met Irene in the Friendship Centre while I was volunteering there. She wanted to know why I wasn’t playing Pepper, I said that I didn’t know how. She said that she would take care of that. The next day she called & invited Bob & myself to play cards at her place on Saturday night with Nelson & Hazel. That was the start of many happy card games. & great memories & good times. We will miss you our friend so much. Such a nice lady. RIP ❤️
