Obituary of Tom Leeming
Tom Leeming, 75, of St. Marys, Ontario, passed away surrounded by friends and family on October 4th 2025.
Tom was born on May 14th 1950, becoming the beloved son to parents Bill and Ethel Leeming, of McKillop Township.
Tom was a simple man. He was content with what he had. Before thinking of himself, he always thought of others and would give the shirt off his back.
Besides, always being there to lend a hand or have an ear to listen without judgment, Tom's passion was with animals, specifically horses. He also found enjoyment building/creating or fixing in his workshop.
Tom's passion for horses allowed him to become very knowledgeable. Seeking out an understanding of their behaviors, how to handle/ride them and natural remedies to aid them. He would often share this knowledge with anyone wanting to learn. Tom loved watching others embrace his passion. He enjoyed camping and trail riding with friends. Be it an afternoon ride in Hullet or trekking across the west coast of Alberta.
Tom was a member and leader of 4-H for many years. Tom was a member of the Chesley Horse Club, aiding in writing a book on the history of the Chesley Horse Club. Tom received a Commitment to Leadership award for his leadership with Scouts Canada.
After high school Tom went on to study Agricultural Mechanics at Guelph University. Upon graduating, Tom pursued a career as a farm equipment mechanic and also managed pig farms in the Seaforth area.
Tom is survived by Mary (Dave Brady), John (Joanne), Jane (Tom Robinson), Bob (Sandra). Tom is also survived by dear friends who were truly family to him, Sarah Nairn, John Riach, and Sarah Bell.
Surrounded by mother nature and all she has to offer was something Tom never took for granted. Be it stopping on a trail ride to watch deer prance on fresh fallen snow or having the warm rays of a summer sunset caress his face. It was the simple pleasures that surround us all that Tom found comfort and pleasure the most.
At Tom's request there will be no funeral. A cremation will take place followed by Tom's ashes being reunited with one of his favorite places and his horse Charm.
