Obituary of Jean Ross

Jean Ross, of St. Marys and formerly Fullarton Twp., passed away peacefully at Kingsway Lodge St. Marys, on November 29, 2025, at the age of 94.

Predeceased by her husband Howard Ross (2010).

Loving mother of Betty Hanson (Gord McClure) of Ballinafad, Aubrey Ross (Linda), Bruce Ross (Doris) all of West Perth, and Ken Ross (Cindy) of North Vancouver. Proud grandmother of Bryan Vanderpol (Kaisu), Michelle Vanderpol (Ross Rizzo), Kerry Vanderpol, Erin Ross (Chad Dawson), Lindsay Ross, Allison McDonnell (Cullen), Georgia Ross and Kyle Ross. Also survived by seven great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by sister-in-law Helen Shute and several nieces and nephews.  

Predeceased by siblings Marion Barr (John), Mervin Shute, Edwin Shute (Betty Hockey) and her parents Heber and Elsie Shute.

Jean was always one to lend a helping hand, preferably behind the scenes. Jean was a member of the Kirkton UCW and Women’s Institute of Russeldale. She worked with her husband on the farm raising their family. She also enjoyed quilting, knitting, crosswords and will be remembered for her cooking and baking, following the recipes in her head.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral home, 47 Wellington St. S. St. Marys, on Feb. 19, 2026 from 2 – 4 & 6- 8 pm. The Memorial Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Feb. 20 at 10am. Spring burial in Woodland Cemetery, Mitchell. In her memory donations may be made to a charity of choice.
