Dear Aunt Lorraine,
I am deeply sorry to hear of Uncle Roy's passing, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I have such wonderful memories of get togethers when Dad lived in Thornhill. When I lived with Dad you and Uncle Roy had an open door policy with me and I loved spending time with you both especially you and I on our girl days. I remember once we were at Dad and Jean Anne's when the both of you met my ex and Uncle Roy looked up at him and asked him if he was a line backer for the Argo's, it was funny. I deeply regret we lost touch. I reached out to you on Facebook because we wanted to have you over at the farm. I wish Uncle Roy and you could have met your nephew together, I had him when I was 40. I don't think I have ever seen a couple so completely in love and devoted to each other. Uncle Roy was a great man and he will be missed.
Love Karri-Ann

Our hearts are with you at this time Lorraine. Bob and I shared many good times with you and Roy at our Memory Matters group. I will always remember my "crokinole buddy" and the quiet little smile that was always on his face. Sending love and condolences to you.

If I lived to be a thousand years,
If I ruled the world - its hemispheres,
I could not repay the love you brought my way,
So, I want to say it now -
to thank you for each day you gave me.
We have just one life to seize the day,
We only have what time there is to say...
'n' do what we must do, express our gratitude,
So, I want to say it and sing it now to you.
At the close of every day,
When I close my eyes to pray,
All I need to do, is just to think of you...
Then, all I need to say... is...
Thank you for the Mondays,
Saturdays and Sundays,
Everyday, the whole year through;
Thank you for the fun days,
All the number-one days,
Battles-to-be-won days, too;
I just want to say it,
Thank you for each day with... you
[Song from the Secret Garden]
Roy loved so many things about life.
But his heart sang a song of love that only I could hear!
Far beyond time... you'll forever be mine.
Till we meet again,
Lorraine

Quite simply, Roy getting married to Lorraine was one of the best things that happened to our family. He was loved by all and returned that love.

I have two particular fond memories of Uncle Roy.
First is when Roy showed me how to BBQ a perfect steak at my Uncle Cecil’s cottage. I think of that moment often when I BBQ steak.
Second was at Maple Leaf Gardens. I was young, maybe seven, maybe eight. Roy and Lorraine had a pair of seats in the Golds and I was fortunate enough to watch a period with Roy. We were very close to the ice, close enough that when a player stopped in front of us the snow from a skate came through a small space between the boards and the glass and landed in my hands, unfortunately the souvenir quickly melted. Roy bought me some shelled peanuts. It was very special for me to be sitting so close to the action. Roy would often remind me later that when I shelled the peanuts I would put the shells in my pocket…not on the ground….very special! I also remember the Hot Stove Lounge that night and having a Shirley Temple. I’ve told that story at the Gardens often.
Uncle Roy truly was a kind and gentle person. He will be missed.

I knew Roy for a short time, however long enough to see he was a gentle soul and that he was, above all, a gentleman. He was lucky to have his wife, Lorraine, care for him in his declining years. May Lorraine find comfort and peace, knowing she provided Roy with care during his last years. Elaine
