Wilma, Jamie, BJ and Danny, our most sincere condolences on the loss of your daughter, sister and mom - the one and only Merry.
Merry stepped into our lives in the mid nineties when she became Patrick's caregiver. We'd never met anyone like her, this cheerful, friendly, patient, kind, loving lady who was always so accommodating our work schedules. Along the way, she became more than an excellent caregiver for Patrick, she became a close friend. Her boys BJ and Danny along with Patrick developed a fast friendship that continued until our move to eastern Ontario in 2007. Through all those years from the mid nineties until 2007, our families shared life together in St. Marys including marriages, cooking, canning, farming, moving and the birth of our son Adam.
Merry is credited for bringing me to Grace Community Church to listen to Pastor Dave Horne as he introduced us to the "Purpose Driven Life" book by Rick Warren. Turns out Merry had been praying for years for Mike and I to attend Grace and we were so very grateful for her persistence. Mike and I were eventually married by Pastor Dave and are truly touched that her Memorial Service is at Grace Community as well.
There is no double that angels roam this earth and Merry was definitely one. We've always felt that way, from the first time we met her. Merry cared and loved everyone without judgement and had a special gift for caring for children. If your child was one of those, count yourself as truly blessed. The world needs more Merry's and although heaven has gained one back, we will always love you Merry and you will never, ever be forgotten.

It may have been years since I worked with her at the slaughter plant but I still have never met anyone with such a warm smile even while she was elbows deep in the insides of pigs she will be very missed

I had the pleasure of working with Merry at Perth Care for kids. Our break times together and closing shifts came with great conversations and laughs. Together, we bonded over our love for animals. Before we would close the daycare and head home for the night, Merry would always check in on me to see if I needed help with anything, if ever I was running a bit behind. Merry was so caring and will be truly missed by so many!

Merry was an amazing educator to my daughter at PCFK. She was always so kind and happy and all the kids adored her so much. She was such a positive influence on all the little ones. I am so sad to hear she is gone so suddenly. I feel very fortunate that my family got to know Merry. We will miss her dearly.

Merry always had a gift when it came to children….she was kind and loving and firmly gentle. We first met at Blanshard Co-op Nursery school. She adored her 2 boys and whenever we met after that she would fill me in on their life journey. I have not seen her in the last few years but the pictures show that she still had her beautiful smile that radiated throughout. So saddened to know that she’s gone so soon Sending heartfelt sympathy to her boys, her brother and her Mom and to all who’s lives she touched

My condolences to Wilma, Jamie and family. Thinking of you at this time. Merry always had an energy that filled any room that she was in. There are many good memories of Merry, from riding the bus to and from SCSS everyday, youth group and various visits after school was done when I was back in town. She will be missed.

She was a teacher who left a lasting mark on her children and their families. Known for her patience, warmth, and gentle life lessons like ‘flip flop over the top’ and ‘you get what you get and don’t get upset,’ she helped shape our children in ways that will stay with us forever. Merry is one of the best parts of our girls going to Perth Care for Kids. Her kindness and genuine good nature radiated to all who knew her.
