Obituary of Marilyn Helen Stephens
Marilyn Stephens (McMorran) beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at Kingsway Lodge in St. Marys on Monday, June 1st, 2026, in her 91st year after a difficult, courageous battle with dementia.
She is deeply missed by her husband Cliff after a marriage of over 68 years. She is survived by her children Joan Matthew, Paul (Jacqueline) and Brad (Stephanie); her grandchildren Kate (Patrick) May, Ben (Paige), Andrew, Lauren and Jeremy; her great-granddaughter Lillian May; her sister Maxine (Dan) Clifford; her niece Dana (Shawn) Thompson and other extended family members and dear friends. Marilyn is predeceased by her parents John Cecil and Catherine McMorran.
Marilyn grew up in London, lived briefly in Owen Sound and moved to the farm outside of St. Marys in 1970. She was committed in the early years of her marriage to being a Mom to her three children and a homemaker. She always put family ahead of herself and hosted many family gatherings and holiday dinners on the farm. Occasionally when she was younger, she was called on to drive a tractor or run errands for the farm. She always enjoyed searching for the perfect antique to add to her collection, designing and making quilts, sewing including wedding and graduation dresses for family and friends as well as volunteer work as a 4H leader. Marilyn took pleasure in spending time with a close-knit group of ladies who enjoyed lunches out, road trips and community events together. She will be missed by Marjorie Rand, a lifelong friend.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful caregivers and health care professionals at Kingsway Lodge for her compassionate care during her final years.
In keeping with Marilyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held to celebrate her life.
Memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army or a charity of your choice in her memory.
