Obituary of Douglas Wayne Swan

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Wayne Swan, who passed away peacefully at St. Marys Memorial Hospital  July 8, 2026 at the age of 75, after putting up a strong and courageous fight. In his final moments, he was surrounded by the love of his children.

Douglas was born in St. Marys, Ontario, to the late Donald Alexander Swan and Marjorie Eileen Swan (Knowles).

Douglas is survived by his loving wife, Joan Swan, and his devoted children, Kelly Munroe, Sheila (Salko) Milic, and Jackie McLennan and Dave Randall. He was a proud grandfather to Sierra, Madysen, Reegan, Avery, Quinn, Enisa, Hana, Brandon, Jami (Tyson), Wesley (Yared), and Kyra, and was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

Douglas was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Rick Swan. He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Janice (Steve), his brother, Jeff (Julie), as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Douglas was a true outdoorsman and a cowboy at heart. A man’s man through and through, he had a lifelong love of horses and spent many years enjoying barrel racing. Whether he was fishing, camping, or simply spending time outdoors, he was happiest under an open sky. His strength, independent spirit, and deep appreciation for country life defined who he was and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Douglas will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for the outdoors, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to share in his life. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the St. Marys Legion, 66 Church St. N. St. Marys, on September 26, 2026 from 1 - 3 pm.

Memorial donations may be made to he Alzheimer Society Huron Perth or charity of choice.
