Obituary of Helen Mary Pletko

Helen Mary Pletko (Rusak/Kozluk) died in St Marys, Ontario on April 30, 2025, five days after her 89th birthday; Born on April 25, 1936. Predeceased by her husband Steve Pletko (2021). Loving mother of Cathy Pletko and husband Jere Bukich, and Stephen Pletko. Proud grandmother of Kyla Bukich, and Jake Bukich (Lena Taylor). Predeceased by brother Bill Rusak, sister Anastasia Rose (Rusak), mother Parana Kozluk, father Onufrey Rusak, and stepfather Andrew Kozluk.

Helen didn’t have a large circle, but she fiercely loved those who were in it. Helen grew up in Thunder Bay Ontario where she met the love of her life, Steve Pletko. Life took them to British Columbia where she worked for Sears; Finally settling down in London, Ontario.  

Helen lived in St Marys in the last few years of her life with her daughter and son in law. She was a quiet, humble, gentle soul who gave what she could and demanded little. She enjoyed morning coffee, the daily news, her favourite TV shows, politics and reading. She loved her small family, our little dog, and enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and family friends. She was an accidental comedian and we laughed at her ability to meld words together with hilarious results: Our favourite was the word “telepathetic”.

As per Helen’s wishes, she will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery in London Ontario with her husband. Burial to take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 10 am where a short, small, simple service will be held.
