Obituary of Hugh Marvin Frew

It is with sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Hugh Marvin Frew. Marvin passed away peacefully and without pain at the Spruce Lodge Nursing Home in Stratford on June 3, 2025 at age 85.

Marvin was a loving husband to both Maralyn (nee Gauthier) until her passing in 1985, and Mary (nee Hall) until her passing in 2023.

He was an amazing Father to James (Karyn) Frew, Sara (Steve) Seaman and Cathy (Clayton) Watson as well as Karl (Tamara) Cuthbert, Anthony (Kathy) Cuthbert and Kal Cuthbert Sr, and Kal's son Kal Lee (Ileana) Cuthbert. He was Grandfather to 17 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings, Merlene (late Bill) Bradford, Ken (Peg) Frew, Sandra (late Jim King) Frew and Susan (late Ken, late Gerry Forcier) Bailey.

He was predeceased by 2 of his grandchildren, Brendan Frew (2011) and Rowan Cuthbert (2020).

He will be always remembered for his sense of humour. He loved life and was a successful businessman, owning numerous businesses over the course of his life. He was also the President of the Royal Canadian Legion in Timmins for many years.

Memorial donations to any Cancer Charity or Alzheimer’s Charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the Family.
 

A Celebration of Life in honour of Marvin will be held on Saturday, 19 July, from 2 - 5pm at the West Ferris Legion in North Bay (30 Legion Dr, North Bay).
