Obituary of Joan Thomson

With broken hearts, we share the passing of Joan “Boots” Thomson.  In her 71yr she left us surrounded by so much love on Aug 19, 2025 at the Stratford Rotary Hospice.

 

Joan will be deeply missed by her forever love and husband, Dave Thomson, married 44 years. Her cherished children, Mark and Melanie Thomson. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert (Connie) Benner and Donald (Heather) Benner, her dear aunt, Barbara (Harry) Wraith, brother-in-law Garry (Terry) Thomson, Terry (Debbie) Thomson, Marg Thomson, countless neices, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. A special place was held in her heart for Talan Ward. 

 

Predeceased by her Mother, Norma Benner and Sister, Gail Benner. Mother and Father-in-Law Stan and Delma Thomson, Brother-in-Law Ron Thomson, nephew Luke Benner, Great Neice Ailynn Luke 

 

 

Joan will be forever remembered for her unbelievable strength, fierce spirit, unconditional love, and the light she brought to the lives around her.  After having to be brave for so long, she can now rest easy while we carry her legacy with us until we meet again.

The Thomson family sincerely thanks the oncology team at the Verspeeten Family Cancer Center, the compassionate support team at St. Marys Memorial Hospital, and the remarkable staff at the Stratford Rotary Hospice for their unwavering care and kindness.

 

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Open House at the RIVER VALLEY GOLF COURSE, 4725 1 Line, St. Marys, on Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 1 – 4 pm.
