The Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home provides simple basic cremation, no visitation and no funeral service, as an option.

THere is our no hidden cost itemization:

• Funeral director co-ordination of activities: $150
• Documentation: $600
  • Includes completion of required forms related to cremation, unlimited proof of death certificates, record keeping and complimentary assistance with CPP (Canadian Pension Plan) death benefit application, assistance with CPP survivor application, Notifying CPP and OAS (Old Age Security) to cease payments and use of Finaldox, an online estate assistance program. • Transport of deceased from place of death to the funeral home: $300
• This covers a 100 km radius from St. Marys (beyond that distance, $3 per km one way will be charged)
• Facilities at the funeral home to shelter the deceased until time of transfer to the crematorium: no cost
• Transport to the crematorium and retrieval of cremated remains: $325
• Basic Cremation Container: $195

    (When a person's body is received at a crematorium in Ontario, the deceased body must be in a rigid combustible container.
    The basic cremation container serves that purpose)
• HST 13% tax on funeral home fee and cremation container: $204.10
  
  Outside costs (Disbursements):
• Bereavement Authority of Ontario "BAO" Consumer Protection Fee $30
  This fee is charged by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario in order to provide its services of information on options in bereavement services and to regulate the bereavement sector profession making sure the law is consistently followed. The BAO’s regulatory work includes responding to public complaints and questions, inspecting and providing guidance to bereavement businesses and professionals, which it licenses across Ontario to better serve you – the public. The BAO is wholly funded by licensee fees (not tax dollars).
• Coroner cremation certificate: $75
  (When a person is cremated in Ontario, a coroner certificate is required to state there is no further investigation with cause of death, allowing cremation to take place)

  

• Cremation at Mount Pleasant Crematorium (London, Ont.) $572.40
  (standard adult size cremation)
  • This fee also includes a container for the cremated remains

A couple of aspects that make the Hodges Funeral Home basic cremation unique, compared to other providers:

• You will notice that the total fee at the top of the page is the same as the bottom of the page.
  
• No extra cost for pace maker removal prior to cremation
• Same as every other service type provided by the Hodges Funeral Home -no deposit is required at time of need- we ask that payment be made in 30 days  or longer if requested.
• Proof of death certificates are unlimited no matter when the death occurs. (some providers will charge extra after a certain amount of time
• Same as every other service type, there is no extra fee for after hours arrangements, i.e. evenings or weekends. That’s the difference when the funeral home owner lives at the funeral home.
• There are no extra costs for assisting with the writing of or submitting obituaries to newspapers
• There is no cost to having an obituary on our funeral home website. Our site also allows pictures in a slide show. There is no extra cost to have this.
• There is no extra fee for assisting with Canada Pension death benefit forms.
• There is no cost to store the cremated remains at the funeral home, but we do prefer they are picked up at the end of one year.
