Obituary of Marlene Eleanor Strahan

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marlene Eleanor Strahan on Aug 7, 2023, age 72, after a courageous battle with dementia.

Born on November 8, 1950, to Florence and Beech Baker.

Marlene is survived by her beloved husband William Donald “Don” Strahan, married for 55 years. The loving mother of Jenanne Graham and Cathy Sparling (Jeff). Cherished grandmother of Matthew Graham (Holly), Jake Graham (Samantha), Josh Sparling (Ashley), Samantha Sparling (Braiden Weston), Zach Graham, Ryan Sparling (Macie McLean), Eli Graham. Great-grandmother of Jesse and Skylar Graham, Tanner and Lucas Sparling, Andie Weston, and Reid Sparling. Sister of Barbara Riordan, Jennifer Sweetzir and sister-in-law of David Strahan (Suzanne), Bob Strahan (Karen) and remembered by many nieces and nephews.  She will be missed by her dog Pookie, who was always a faithful companion. Pookie was always close by her side.

Marlene is predeceased by her parents, brother Robert Baker and sister Jane Baker.

Marlene's thirst for knowledge was insatiable, and the pages of books were her windows to countless worlds. With each turn of the page, she embarked on adventures of the mind, expanding her horizons and enriching her soul. Her love for reading was a testament to her curious spirit and her appreciation for the beauty of words.

Above all, Marlene's heart was a wellspring of unconditional love for her family. Her bond with them was unbreakable, a testament to the depth of her affection and the joy she found in their company. With her grandchildren, through the world of computer games, she bridged the generation gap, sharing her passion for adventure and fun. Marlene's mastery of games like Monkey Island, Treasure Mountain, and King's Quest was legendary, and her grandchildren marveled at her skill and wisdom, eager to learn from the master herself.

Marlene's legacy is one of love, kindness, and a spirit that embraced the wonders of life. Her memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know and love her.

Special thanks to the VON, One Care, St. Marys Memorial Hospital Emergency and Stratford General Hospital Emergency departments, Dr. Foster, and all the care providers at the Happy Valley Healthcare Clinic.
