Obituary of Carl Pelkmans

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of ”Carl” Carolus Henricus Maria Pelkmans in his 79^th year, August 24^th 2023.

Immigrating in 1965 from Baarle-Nassau, Netherlands to set roots in Canada and building the family dairy farm, settling in Oxford County. He was most proud of his Dutch heritage and growing family as the years had gone by. Carl was a hard-working proud Ontario farmer who was always willing to lend a listening ear and helping hand, traveling the world on many adventures, daily walks exploring the farms with the beloved family dog by his side, and enjoyed friendly but competitive games of chess.

He will be dearly missed by many extended relatives and friends in the Netherlands, Canada far and wide.  Youngest son of Augustinus Willhelmus Pelkmans (1980) and Maria Aloijsia (1990) (Verheijen) Siblings: Henricus Johannes Pelkmans (2021) - Maria Jacobs (2005), Adrianus Carolus Pelkmans - Anna Dickens, Josephus Augustinus Pelkmans (2009) and Mary Van Beek, Cornelia M.A Pelkmans – Jo W.A Wijnhoven (†), Johannes Carolus Josephus Pelkmans - Mary Verhoeven, Alphonsius J.M Pelkmans – Toos Christianen, Ria Pelkmans (2018).

Beloved husband of 51 years to Ulrike Pelkmans. Loving father to Carmen van Lierop (John), Karen Ische (Mike), Carl Pelkmans Jr, Stefan Pelkmans (Tamzin).  Proud Opa to 16 grandchildren, Deanna van Lierop, Cody Weston (Gage), Robin van Lierop (Keegan), Janneke van Lierop (Alejandro), Tina van Lierop, Marieke van Lierop, Alana Ische, Ethan Ische, Collin Ische, Jordan Pelkmans, Marcia Pelkmans, Trevor Pelkmans, Russell Pelkmans, Oliver Pelkmans, Lucas Pelkmans , Nora Pelkmans. Missed by great-grandchildren Luuka Weston, Baby (2023).

Special thanks to all of the doctors, nurses, paramedics & emergency workers who helped to care for Carl.

A private family interment ceremony will take place.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Oct 21, 2023 from 4 pm to 7 pm at 922849 Road 92, Lakeside ON.
