Obituary of Donald Edward Rigney

Donald Edward Rigney passed away suddenly but peacefully at Victoria Hospital in London on February 14, 2017 at the age of 83.He is survived by his wife Barbara (McFalls, Bradshaw) Rigney, and children Ginny (Brian) Van Wensem of Inwood, ON, Rhonda & Colette Rigney of London, step-children Linda (Dan) Dick of St. Marys, MaryLou (John) McCarthy of St. Marys, Donna (Steve) McRae of St. Marys, Sandra (Rick) Fifield of St. Marys and Janice Bradshaw and Scott Ball of College Station, Texas. Don is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sister Margaret (Peggy) Carter of Calgary, AB; sisters-in-law Jeanne McFalls of Cold Stream, ON and Margaret Rae of St. Marys; and nieces and nephews Dale (Caroline) Connors and family of London, Donna (Dave) Thompson and family of London, Brenda Anderson and family, and Mike Carter and his family of Calgary, AB. He is also survived by several cousins and extended family nieces and nephews.Don is predeceased by his parents Richard Rigney and Martha Guest, sisters Frances (Max) Connors and Bertha (Lorne) Anderson. Don taught school for a short time then worked for Ontario Hydro and other electrical construction companies. Don was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 236 (St. Marys).Cremation will take place. An Open House Celebration of Life will be held at the St. Marys Legion, 66 Church St. N., St. Marys, on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017 from 1 – 4 p.m. Spring interment in Vining Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the St. Marys Legion Br. 236 or to the St. Marys Presbyterian Church.
