Sad to hear of Bob's passing. Bob was the finest of gentlemen. He was always the first to offer a warm greeting and inquire about how you were doing. I enjoyed many evenings of fine fine, food and conversation at Beefsteak and Burgundy events. The world was a better place because of "Swetty".

I knew Bob for quite a few years before I left the St Mary's area. We bonded over cars and food, not sure which he loved more. F1 racing was up there as well, in fact, he had a favorite store in Toronto that sold racing and F1 merchandise, and I always ended up buying something that seemed to please him as much as me ! He asked me one time if I could help him deliver vehicles, as a friend I refused any payment, but he always insisted on buying lunch and or dinner ( hence his love for food and a little drink sometimes lol ). We even went out East coast a couple of times dropping cars off, and once ended up getting lost and crossing the border at 2am without realizing it, when we turned around to cross back that's when we got stopped by US border patrol, lol good memories I'll never forget. Like taking the ferry over to Newfoundland ( with no stopping from driving from Stratford to Newfoundland ) and both of us extremely tired , then only to find out the Ocean was really rough that the cabin we had sounded like a gong was being hit every 5 mins from the waves hitting the bow, so neither of us got any sleep. Way too many stories that I could tell......We use to go to car shows, Jody and I or sometimes just I would pop over to the big house, usually Friday or Sat night, then. get ready to leave, when he'd pop up and say lets order a pizza ! lol I lost touch with Bob and I regret that deeply, he was fun to be around, out going, do anything for anyone but mostly he was a good friend who will be missed by many. My heart goes out to Carole, kids, family and friends

The best of Bob were the stories, only surpassed if Bob told the tall tale himself. The legend of the Swet-hog; Most stories were car stories; His first car, his second care, the car he had here or the car he had there. Bob’s face lite up describing each individual experience driving or what’s up under the hood. Then there were the lot stories on how 30 cube trucks turned up, the Russian way of buying used cars, the leather seats in the car without leather seats ... and Bob, I never could ask how DID you get my ZR1 at such a good deal? Bob; The perfect drive companion whether to the Detroit Auto Show, the cottage or just down the road. The not so perfect Quiz mate with only knowledge, but superb knowledge on 50s and 60s music, a wizard of car history and auto nostalgia. The man perfected a stick-with-your-knitting approach to life, stick with your interests, with your training and all that car knowledge. A real gentleman always remembered.
