My prayers (and those of my brother Rick) are with the wonderful Hammond Family as they say goodbye to Mrs. Hammond. Though I haven't seen her in many years, I have such lovely memories of her as John, Rick and I were growing up in St. Marys. Our parents thought the world of Chum and Ede. I actually had no idea that Chum and Ede actually had real first names until I read this, and I smiled as it occurred to me that all we three kids ever knew them as were "Chum" and "Ede". Our folks (Lorne and Dorothy Francis) were always so fond of Chum and Ede, and as I looked at the photos, it tugged at my heartstrings in a huge way, especially when I saw the photo of Dot Eedy, Ede and Helene Ball. I suspect that had my family not moved from St. Marys so many years ago, that my own dear Mom would have been in that photo. She was so fond of her St. Marys friends. I've been able to keep track of Chum and Ede over the years through my dear friend Susan McCann who just passed away a week ago today. Susan and her husband Gary McCann were great flying friends of Chum and Ede, and socialized with them and the rest of the flying gang. Susan always had such nice things to say about both Chum and Ede. I did see Chum a few times over the years when I helped Susan fee the whole flying club at BBQs at the McCann Hanger at the Stratford Airport, and always had such great visit with Chum with lots of reminiscing. Sending sincere hugs from the Francis Family in Stratford as I think of the great memories.

Sending my condolences to the entire Hammond family. Editha and Chum were such a kind and generous part of my growing up, that I can’t separate them from the fabric of my childhood. Gentle asks about school and later work, kind words about singing, and of course treasured swims in the pool all form such fond memories of such a wonderful pair. My sympathy to all the members of Editha's family May you find great comfort in knowing that she is "safe in the arms of Jesus" because of her faith in Christ's shed blood for her salvation. Doubtless she is excited to now be a member of that vast heavenly choir! During the 70 years I have known her, she consistently exhibited her great smile and showed a genuine interest in all the people with whom she communicated. What a gracious and welcoming hostess she was. How fortunate are her family and friends to have benefitted from great example. She will never be forgotten!

Always Eddie to the ‘Eedy’ family. One smart person, engaging conversationalist and open to taking a seat beside members of our family. Yes so good; the Eedy kids’ memories of the warmth of the Hammond cement pond. Better, Eddie was part of a distinguished and delightful group of local ladies, a powerful core. Best a great friend of Dorothy. Eddie has given all of us something nice to take forward, and pass on in her memory ... Eddie had class that she passed on to her family, a class that permeated her walk. Our new residents could lower their smart phone, and learn from way Eddie carries herself . .. head up, smile and all with sincerity and respect.

Always comfortable in her presence she put everyone at ease. I recall each of her well raised children and how fond she was of here extra children's thinking of Audrey whom I know well.
