It is with profound sadness that we announce Verna’s passing in her 97th year on April 28, 2019 at Kingsway Lodge, St. Marys, with her family by her side.Verna is pre-deceased by her husband of 65 years William Switzer (2011), her sister Joy Smith and brother Walter Cooper. Beloved Mother of Bruce and Margaret and Stan and Judy. Grandmother of Lesley Switzer and Chris VanderPloeg, Richard and Wendy, Allyson Switzer and Toby Stolee, Mark and Rhonda, Paul and Tina and great-grandmother of Liam, Elizabeth, Ava, Brooke, William, Dean, Alexis, Shane, Jenna and James.The family would like to specifically thank the wonderful staff, nurses and PSWs at Kingsway Lodge and Dr. Jon Schiedel who always treated mom with love, dignity and respect.Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington St. S. St. Marys (519-284-2820) on Monday, May 6, 2019 for visiting from 12:30 until the time of the Memorial Service at 1 p.m. with Bonnie Adams officiating. Interment in St. Marys Cemetery.
