Obituary of Elsie Carmen Hodgson
On Sunday, December 8th, Elsie passed away peacefully at Kingsway Lodge surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Beloved wife and forever love of Ted Hodgson for 65 years. Loving mother to Sharon (Mark), Brian, Colleen (Grier) and Lisa (Gregory). She will be dearly missed by her 5 grandchildren, Kristy (Tyler), Carly, Jamie (Meaghan), Jesslyn & Garrett (Mikayla) and her 2 great-grandchildren Wesley and Matthew. Elsie is also survived by her sister Betty Denomme (Richard), sister-in-law Geraldine McCarthy, brother-in-law Gerald Hodgson and their children all in Montreal, special friends Patte and Ross Parker and Jim Commerford. Elsie was born on March 20, 1935 in Shawinigan, Quebec where she met Ted, her drummer boy and aspiring professional hockey player from Montreal. They married May 14, 1955. In 1968, they moved their family to Stratford, ON where they owned and operated the Dairy Queen for 20+ years. She was an active member of the Stratford Kinnettes Club for many years and volunteered her time in her community. Elsie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother... Any chance to spend time with her family was very important to her. She also adored Heidi their dachshund pup, painting, arts and crafts, shopping, music, dancing, and spending her winters in Venice, Florida after retirement. The family sends heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff on the 2nd floor at Kingsway Lodge, St. Mary's for their loving care, compassion and support for many years.
