Obituary of Marjorie Mallissa Pearson

In memory of Marjorie Mallissa Pearson (Vannatter), who passed away peacefully with family by her side at St. Marys Memorial Hospital on Monday, May 13, 2019, at the age of 97 years young.Beloved wife of the late Murray Theodore Pearson (2009). Loving mother of Ken Pearson and Lori, Ron Pearson and Dianne, Brian Pearson (2015) and Wendy. Proud grandmother of Loren and Pamela, Daniel and Jennifer, Rochelle and Tige, Heather and Curtis, Allison and Michael, Tracy and Jeff, Scott and Nathalie. Blessed great-grandmother to Marin, Ian, Laurel, Nicholas, Samantha, Julie, Nathan, Kara, Alexander, Matilda, Edwin, Malcolm, Chloe, Holly, Jacob, Ben, and Tyler. Survived by her brother Ernie and Betty Vannatter of Kitchener, Ontario, and her brother-in-law Donald and Donna Pearson of St.Marys, Ontario. Predeceased by her husband Murray Pearson, her son Brian Pearson, granddaughter Leslie Anne Pearson, her parents Oscar Byron Vannatter and Edith Mae Vannatter (Bagnall), and her siblings Ruby Dunseith, Pearl England, Rena Wyngaert, Zora Riordan, Fordzel Vannatter, and their spouses. Also predeceased by her in-laws Rita (Pearson) and Wilford Patterson, and Vera (Pearson) and Marwood Fletcher. She will be sadly missed by generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins.Marjorie was a naturalist, who loved the outdoors and all members of the animal kingdom, especially her cats. Her love of nature was expressed through her beautiful artwork, as a master painter and craftworker in ceramics, copper, and many other creative media. She often taught courses in liquid embroidery for the FHR Hobby Products company of Harrow, Ontario, and she also taught generations of her family as well around her kitchen table. Her paintings and quilts won awards at community fairs across Southern Ontario. Although she had many careers throughout her life, her role as farm woman was her most important, and her gardens were the envy of the countryside. From her gardens she produced many different kinds of fruits and vegetables which were preserved or shared with members of the community in times of need. Her beautiful flowers often decorated Browns United Church, where she was a faithful member of the congregation. She enjoyed travels across Canada, the USA, and the Caribbean with her husband and close family friends Al and Mary Bannerman. But there was nothing she loved more than being at the farm on Cherryhill Road, the site of numerous family picnics, holiday celebrations, and Sunday dinners that will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.Visitation at the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington St. S. St. Marys (519-284-2820) on Thursday, May 16, from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be conducted at BROWNS UNITED CHURCH, 136545 13th Line. RR#4, St. Marys, on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11 a.m. Reception at Browns School House to follow. Interment in St. Marys Cemetery.
