Obituary of William Anthony Simons

On March 7, 2017, surrounded by his family, William Anthony Simons, affectionately known as Will, entered into God’s Loving Arms at the age of 5. From the time he was born, Will bravely fought his congenital heart defect, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, with grace and determination. Will lived life big by enjoying the simple things to the fullest. He had compassion for every person he met. Will had a passion for life and for doing things on his own terms. Even in death, he had grace and died on his own terms, with bravery. Will is the beloved son of Katie and Matt Simons, and best friend and brother to his twin Luke, and Nick and Owen; Grandson of Papa Bill and Nanny Anna Ryan, and Grampa Tony and Granny Caroline Simons. Nephew of Uncle Mike and Uncle Shane. Cousin of Cameron, Kasen, August, Veronica, and Jack and their mother Roxxi; Uncle Tom Simons, and Auntie Kristina Simons. He will be missed by his school family at Holy Name of Mary School: Mr. Langan, Mrs. Keene, Mrs. Stapleton and Mrs. Burlingham.Thanks to his Sick Kids team, Dr. Jaeggi, Dr. Honjo and the nurses, social workers and child life specialist who rallied around him. Thank you to the staff at St. Marys Memorial Hospital and the St. Marys community for their compassion and kindness during this difficult time.Visitation at the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington St. South, St. Marys, on Sunday, March 12, from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY NAME OF MARY PARISH, Northeast corner of Widder St. E. and Peel St. N., St. Marys, on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11 a.m.Cremation to follow.Reception in the gym at Holy Name of Mary School (next door to the church)
