Uncle Ross was always the fun uncle at any Smith gathering. He was the one who hitched up Grandpa’s horse to the stoneboat and took us for a ride over the hills of snow on the farm. In later years he might fly in to visit various relatives in Wingham, Tillsonburg, Barrie etc. Or we might meet up in Brussels, Stratford , the Country Spire or St Mary’s. He was always charming and jocular. We will miss him so much. We shelter in our memories. Thinking of you with love Brad and Cathy and your families. Karen and David Hindley

My sincere sympathy to Cathy, Brad and families, Ross was a good neighbor always. He and Don shared many flying and bulldozer stories and we enjoyed tomatoes and veggies from his garden every summer. We missed him when he moved away.

Cathy, Phil, Brad, Jane and all the family, I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. We had so much fun over the years being his neighbor, watching all the interesting things going on in his life and on the property. Dory, Ross and I had many a conversation and I always came away with something to remember. I had been hoping that I would get in another visit in with him when the pandemic cleared, but my memories are strong and I wish peace to all of you.

So sorry to hear of Ross's passing.. we purchased the Spire from him and found Ross such an interesting chap! We have fallen in love with the place as well and are so thankful for all that Ross has done there. We think of him often as we come across his many ideas and writings he left there. I wish we had a chance to know him better. Many a neighbour has stopped in with an interesting story about Ross and always with a smile a on their face! We were fortunate to have met him and he will always be a big part of our life story with The Country Spire! Brad and Lisa Rapien
