Two fond memories I have of Richard with the first being, him as the trusted cab driver for me and my high school friends to various events about town. The second was the ongoing friendly, cheerful meetings with him anytime we crossed paths in all the years after. A wonderful and kind soul.

To the Oliver Family, Richard and I go way back to the Autotube era when he sometimes worked with his brother. It is hard to find a more friendly, caring, and positive person. Richard was a kind heart. We lived on the same street and he was always welcome at our home, Just to sit and chat and then he was away again on his bike. Everyone knew him on our street and also around the town. Many people have memories of Richard. Mostly his smile and friendly manner. So sorry to hear of the passing of Richard. He was a very nice person. I bought the house he grew up in on Jones St. in St Mary's. He was nice to talk to and I remember giving him a tour of the house a year or two later. He enjoyed it and told me all about the tree in backyard. His Dad planted the year he was born. I would like to give my condolences to Richard's family and friends at this time. May your loving memories of your times spent with him help you through this difficult time. I live at 270 Queen Street West in St. Marys, where Richard lived for a number of years on the 3rd floor. I always found him warm, caring, deeply interested in helping others and outstanding in his obvious love for the St. Marys Community and devotion to the St. Marys Legion. Richard will be sadly missed by so many folks in town. He was a real gentleman.
