Obituary of Joyce Irene Cookson

Joyce Irene Cookson (nee Watson), of St.Marys, passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on Oct. 4, 2016 at the age of 76. Beloved wife of the late Gordon G. Cookson (2007). Loving mother of Tom and Kathy Cookson, Vicki and Terry Barber, Stephen Cookson, Barry and Sherry Cookson, Gordon and Lesley Cookson all of St. Marys. Proud Grandmother of Scott, Melissa (Harry), T.J. (Leigh), Amanda (Chris), Matt, Gord, Caroline, John (Jessica) and Jaden and Great-Grandmother of ten. Dear sister of Betty McCurdy and Bruce Watson. Dear sister-in-law of James and Anne Cookson (London), Ruth and Don Favacho (St. Marys), Joyce Cookson (Ipperwash) and Wayne Lessard (Mississauga). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Clayton Watson and the former Edna Bruce, in-laws Eleazor Cookson and the former Laura Aldis, brother-in-law Roy McCurdy, sister-in-law Eleanor Watson, brothers-in-law Donald Cookson, Grant Cookson, sisters-in-law Elizabeth Brown, Mary Lou Lessard and a grandson Benjamin Cookson.Visitation at the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington St. S. St. Marys (519-284-2820) on Thursday, Oct. 6, from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m.The Funeral Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016 at 11 a.m. Interment in St. Marys Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the St. Marys Memorial Hospital Foundation.
