Obituary of Irene Elliott

Edna “Irene” Elliott passed away at Wildwood Care Centre, St. Marys, on August 23, 2021, at the age of 88. Born in Brookfield Newfoundland, daughter of the late Edgar and Mary Sturge. Also predeceased by her first husband Albert Hoyles (1974). Survived by her husband Jack Elliott, married 44 years. Mother of Bessie (Cliff Hounsell), Alex Hoyles (Marlene), Mary Kindree (Harold), Nettie Hoyles, Baxter Hoyles (Jane Cox), Wilfred Hoyles (deceased 2014), Nina Petersen (Rob), Drewie Hirst (Al), Percy Hoyles (Shannon) and predeceased by three children in infancy: Edgar, Elizabeth and Dorcus. Forever loved by 23 grandchildren 43 great-grandchildren and 12 great-greatgrandchildren. Predeceased by seven siblings and survived by sister Muriel Vivian. Irene will be remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was a proud Newfoundlander. “Small but mighty” Irene gave the biggest hugs. Everyone -to her- was “My Love.” A private family funeral will take place with interment in Granton Cemetery.
