Dear Knapman Family I just met Mavis at the last Front Porch Show and had such a wonderful time talking to her and all the things she did. An amazing person and so full of life. She was knitting a muff to help Alzheimer patients and we planned on meeting at the PRC centre on Wednesday morning to knit and get to know each other. I'm so sorry I won't have that chance now. We have all lost a wonderful person and I share your grief.

Dear Knapman Family, Sorry to hear of Mavis’ passing. She was a friendly and kind person. Mavis was a good friend of Lillian Campbell. They met at church. She always asked about Lillian of how she was doing. Lillian would sit with her after church and talk. She will be missed. Heaven is a little brighter now.

Mavis you will live in our heart and in this community forever You Were My caring loving neighbor second mom and friend you are also a generous woman who always had something to give to my children when they came to your home treats candies quilts and T of course you always had time for me you always listen to my problems and always had some kind of advice for me for anybody no matter their age barrier Mavis seem to close that Gap I always wanted to be part of mavis's family I always thought that their family was so close because of their mom and the way she brought them up I was always happy to take something with me back to my home after being at hers I think God now has found his right hand girl and Mavis I know you're there with God and t's going to be hard to share you now but God has you now How Wonderful!!! With All My Love Henrietta and the kids!

To Brian, Kim, Glyn and Dave and families: How do you say good bye to someone who means so much to so many. Mavis was like a 2nd mother to me and my husband, and a grandmother to my kids. She was a friend, confidant, teacher and touring partner all rolled into one. Our travels took us to visit many a family member and tea joint. We learned so many things from Mavis; like to always put your milk into your teacup first to avoid stains in the cup. Drop everything and give hugs often and always at the beginning and end of visits. Go for a drive whenever you can, and always share your raspberries with everyone. My children learned the proper way to say "sqwirril" and "al-u-min-i-um". She shared animal rehabiliation with our son Tristan about squirrels, cats and dogs. She shared travel tips with our oldest Reese just last Wednesday before he left for Ireland saying to stop in and visit England too! We shared recipes and jokes, successes and failures, but always her love shone through in everything. Mavis loved to knit and quilt and rug hook and crochet. She made hot dog mitts and slippers and lap blankets. She was a giver to her community of her time quilting at the friendship centre, a regular donor to Samaritans Purse with her shoe boxes of goodies, as well as making fidget muffs for people with dementia. Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel at the sudden loss of Mavis. We are thinking of you during this sad time and our hearts go out to you. Mavis was my mother in law for 21yrs. She was a wonderful, mother, grand mother, great grandmother , wife and mother in law. Mavis was always smiling and put a pot of tea on and put out cookies every time we came to visit. Always happy to see her family come visit. Many work bees were held at her house were every one would come to chip in to do whatever needed to be done. She loved to have her family all in one place and enjoyed hearing the grandchildren’s stories. She made quilts for all the family that she was very proud of she also made the infamous knitted slippers that everyone would fight over to wear when we came to visit. I have many happy memories of my time with Mavis and will miss her very much. Rest In Peace “Nanny”. Love JJ. Xoxo
