Obituary of Audrey Linda Dundas
It is with great sadness, that we, the family of Audrey Linda Dundas (Blackman) announce her passing on Saturday, September 25th, 2021. Audrey passed away peacefully in her room at Wildwood Care Centre, with her family by her side and photographs and memories of all who loved her so dearly placed proudly around her.
Those close to Audrey will miss her undeniable strength and resilience, two qualities that she embodied right until the time of her passing.
Audrey was loved by many who cared for her at the nursing home. They loved her maternal natural affection and will fondly remember her ability to keep them on their toes with a witty chirp or two.
Born on February 23rd, 1928 to Charles and Daisy Blackman. Audrey married Lorne Dundas on September 29th, 1946 and they had three children. Audrey is survived by her daughter, Pat Bestard (Steve) and son Brent Dundas (Darlene). Predeceased by son Bob Dundas (Elizabeth). Audrey’s loved overflowed as a Grandmother to Lynne (Dave), Tara (Rob), Stacie (Jared), Scott (deceased 1985), Craig, Courtney (Nathan), Justin (Stephanie), Brandon (Carly), and Nathan (Rachel). One of Audrey’s greatest joys was being a beloved “GG” to her many great and (great, great) grandchildren: Vicki, Ashely, Tyler, Nicolas, Nathan, Brecken, Tianna, Cecelia, Carson, Audrey, Tommy, Zoey, Addie, Jack and Kaydan. Great-great grandma to Jackson, Ashlynne, Isla, Ryan, Cara and Alex.
Audrey belonged to a large family unit and is survived by her sister Margaret Lang of St. Marys and predeceased by Eric, Jessie, Charlie, Hilda, Eileen, Marion, Betty, Gerry and Bob. She is survived by sisters-in-law Marlene Blackman and Roberta Dundas of St. Marys, Glenda and Marie Dundas of London. Also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews who dearly loved her.
With roots planted deeply in the St. Marys Community, Audrey held a special place in her heart for the St. Marys Firefighters. First the proud wife and mother to members of the department, the legacy continues by grandsons belonging to the St. Marys Firefighters.
As per her wishes, it is asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the St. Marys Volunteer Firefighters Association (172 James Street South, St. Marys, Ontario, N4X 1B6) for their continued support of the St. Marys Community.
Our family extends a sincere Thank You to Wildwood Care Centre (and staff) for their care and compassion during Mon’s stay and especially during the trying times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her loss leaves an irreparable hole in our hearts, but a life like Audrey’s is truly something to be celebrated, with all of our love.
A graveside service will be held in St. Marys Cemetery, 150 Cain St. St. Marys, on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 11 am. Please bring a lawn chair.
