Obituary of William Robert Roger

WILLIAM ROBERT ROGER, after a long struggle with cancer, our best friend is pain free. Bill always lived life and did things on his own terms and that is exactly how he left this world. Our rock will always live on in our hearts and memories. Strong minded, but very fair and direct in all his thoughts and so true to family and friends. Community minded as Fire Chief, Road’s Board and Farmer in Trout Creek. He loved living at his picturesque heritage home in Fullarton Twp., which was homesteaded by the Roger Family in 1861. Bill also homesteaded his property in Trout Creek Ontario where he built a log home, maple syrup shanty and shed for 2800 taps. He loved travel, animals (especially dogs, cats and mink), fishing, hunting, camping, cutting wood, having a great time with family and friends and cheering on his Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. Bill served as Deputy Conservation Officer with the Ministry of Natural Resources for many years. He left us on September 30, 2021 at the age of 72. Survived by his wife Marie (Fassbind), married 43 years. Brother of John and Janet, Jim and Darlene and Ian. Brother-in-law of Paul (deceased) and Sharon Fassbind, Marg and Marcel Deschamps, Rose and Ed Kraal. Bill will also be remembered by several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Predeceased by his parents William E. Roger and Sarah Gilchrist. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Oct 3, 2021 from 2 to 4 p.m. at 2822 Perth Rd. 163, Fullarton, Ontario. Please join us and bring a lawn chair. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Marys Healthcare Foundation or the West Perth Village Seniors’ Community.
