I have such fond childhood memories of our dear neighbour. From Interrupting his calls on the party line we shared, to baling hay on the hottest summer days to milking the cows by hand or enjoying Maries fried bologna & onion lunches! Working with Barney over those years was a true honour and a blessing. God rest his sweet gentle soul. He will be missed ❤️

When I first came to town, I only knew Glenna and her children. Barnby was one of my first friends I made here, and what a great friend he was. He sold me a piece of land, so that I could set up shop. When I was putting up the greenhouses, Barnby would come over and offer his help.It was fun to have him and his wisdom. Always a pleasure to see his wife Rebecca come over with food!!!! I enjoyed our visits over the years. One of my memories is seeing him come over on his ATV, to pick up a hanging basket for his wife. He liked to walk around and comment that he was happy to see us plant trees. I will always be very grateful to Barnby and the time we spent together. I will miss my neighbour and friend. My sincere condolences, Christopher Stanley

Barnby was one of our favourite people, grounded in his roots but always progressive and adventurous. We both knew the Cades throughout our lives and have great memories of Barnby. He was a big hearted neighbour who will be deeply missed. Farlesthorpe will not be the same place without him. Our sincere sympathies to the whole family. Bill and Lee

So very sorry to hear about the passing of Barnby. He was a terrific man and neighbour. Always willing to help and support anyone who needed it. Two summers ago he took me on his 4- wheeler all around the farm. I had to hang on tight to him and he said he didn’t mind. I will always remember my memories of this great man. Paul and Sue Robinson

Barnby and I attended school in Rannoch when he was 11 and I was 12. After school we had a “lab” above the family garage. Fortunately we didn’t blow up the building,
I will miss him and send my condolences to his family. Irvine Brace

To Barnby's children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends: May your wonderful, loving memories of time spent with Barnby, the lessons of life he taught you, help you through this difficult time. He was a true gentleman and a devoted steward of the land he sowed and cared for. Barby was an original conservationist who showed all around him how it was done! Rest in peace, sir, and thank you!

My deepest condolences to the family of Barnby. I really enjoyed when Barnby would come into my place of work, always knew my name and greeted me with a smile. I did a couple deliveries to his farm and was so impressed with how well everything was kept. He seemed so passionate about agriculture! Taught me a couple of gardening tips. He was always so sweet and friendly when I bumped into him. And boy did he know how to host a firework party!!! Rannoch will not be the same without him. Sending light to his family.
