Obituary of Vera Huiberts

Vera Huiberts (nee Droog), born in the West Beemster, Holland, passed away peacefully at Kingsway Lodge on December 15, 2021 at the age of 90.

Beloved wife of Herman (predeceased, 2014), immigrating to Canada on their honeymoon, which lasted 56 years. Mother of Lynda and Nico Verwer and their children Jacob and Andrea, Peter and Nicole, and Michael; Pieter and Diane Huiberts and their children Brad (Karen), Rachel and Darcy; Karen Huiberts; and Yvonne and Nick Wouters and their children Randy and Stephanie, Carly, Paula (Clayton) and Ella. Great-Oma of Elijah, Gabriel and three on the way.   Also survived by her sisters in Holland Jeanne, Ina and Irene. Remembered by many nieces, nephews, honourary nieces and nephews and extended family members.  Predeceased by six brothers and two sisters.

Vera and her husband Herman farmed in the Thorndale area and retired in Wellburn and then St. Marys. A faithful member of Holy Name of Mary Parish and member of the CWL.  Mom was a hardworking life-long caregiver. A clean home was very important to her. She was a dedicated diary and letter writer with fine penmanship and even calligraphy. Mom enjoyed playing cards, Japanese embroidery, daily puzzles and Happy Hour. She was an accomplished knitter, knitting sweaters, baby outfits and many pairs of socks. In her memory we invite you to wear your Oma Socks.

A private Funeral Mass will be conducted at Holy Name of Mary Parish on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021 at 11 p.m.
