Dear Della, Dwain, Nancy and families,
Our most sincere condolences. Barry was such a huge part of your lives. Holes that big are hard to fill.
I have so many "Barry" memories and really treasure them. He was a genuinely good guy. His sense of humour enabled him to be the ultimate diplomat in any situation. He always had something good to say. He was an amazing Shop Manager. I loved driving bus knowing that Barry had my back. I remember one particular very stormy winter day...I was on the top of a hill; kids on the bus; looking down on an icy road. I radioed in, not knowing how to get the kid at the bottom of hill without ending up in the river beside the road. Barry calmly talked me through giving me tips on where the wheels of the bus needed to be. Oh boy.
That was just one "Barry" memory.
You're a great family. Hold on to the memories!
In our thoughts and prayers.

Della and Family,
We are so very sorry to learn today of Barry’s passing. He was indeed a fine gentleman. We are glad we had the opportunity to be in his company several times upon your visits to NL. He always enjoyed a good time and certainly went with the flow. We especially remember his trip with all of you to Florida a few years back when we really got to know him better. We enjoyed a few drinks, laughs, and of course, a few games of golf to gather. Unfortunately that was the last time we saw him.
Our thoughts and prayers are certainly with you at this most difficult time. Looking forward to seeing you again sometime in the future.
Most sincerely,
Carl & Sharon Roberts,
St. John’s, NL.

Barry Smith, it brings our family sadness to hear of the passing of Barry. He worked for our family for over 56 years, but really managed our drivers and staff, like it was his own company for decades in Perth County. Barry always wanted to have the edge on the competition, but would lend a hand to any that asked. Many other bus operators , transportation managers knew, respected and depended on Barry for his knowledge and charm.
When Barry decided to retire, he could still be seen and heard on a part-time basis on our two-way radio, dispatching buses for Della and getting the kids to and from school safely, in a style as Barry only could.
Barry enjoyed annual ball trips and car shows that my Dad, Mike organized and I always got to the bus early, to get to the BACK of the bus, where Barry would be waiting for all his friends to hear his stories and have that special cocktail. Many will remember the times with Barry at the Chicken In the Rough... Take Care Della and Family. Rob Murphy and Murphy Family.
