I first met Miss Healey when she gave a seminar on nursing education at Toronto General hospital where I was working as a new graduate nurse. She was inspirational,
& that fall I enrolled in BScN program at Western University. I was thrilled that she was one of my professors. I taught nursing for many years thanks to Eileen Healey.
May she rest in peace

I worked for John and Eileen, for many years. They were a lovely couple, whom I enjoyed spending time with. I was always amazed at all the talents Eileen and John had. One day I comment how I loved her blouse. She made it!!! They always asked me about my family, including my dogs! I never knew what conversations we would get into, I always learnt something! I appreciated the kindness they showed me. Eileen was a women who cared deeply. I feel honoured to be able to call them friends.

Eileen and I were cousins. Our Healey grandfathers were brothers. I live in California and somehow managed to connect with Eileen in Canada years ago (I wish I could remember how I found her!). We shared a strong interest in Healey family genealogy and worked together on the family history for many' many years. One of Eileen's great finds was managing to get a copy of our Healey great-grandfather's military records from the Canadian government. After we corresponded for a few years and exchanged information, I traveled to Ontario and to St. Marys to meet Eileen and John and spend some time with them (1994?). Stayed with them in their wonderful cottage outside St. Marys. From then on, I (usually with my husband but also with a cousin a couple of times) traveled to London/St. Marys every two years and spent a week or ten days in the area each time. Eileen and I wanted to put a proper monument on the grave of our Healey great-grandparents in St. Peter's Cemetery in London. We collected contributions from Healeys in the U.S. and Canada, and Eileen and I designed what I think is a beautiful, fitting monument for them. We gathered descendants from the U.S. and Canada and held a brief service at the cemetery before driving to John and Eileen's cottage in St. Mary for a wonderful luncheon. I know this occurred in 2004. We loved time spent with John and Eileen and wish we could have spent more time with them. Eileen and I shared a love of books and travel and family and genealogy and animals. I saved every letter she ever wrote to me, and there are many, because almost all of them contain history information. I loved her dearly, and she will be greatly missed. Many condolences on the loss of your beloved Mother/Grandmother/Eileen. I used to be a library consultant in southwestern Ontario and got to know your mom as the chair of the library board. She and I would sometimes travel to and from meetings together and I revelled in the conversations we would have in the car. She was a remarkable woman with so many diverse interests, most especially, books. We never ran out of things to talk about and never tired of discovering a shared passion or learning from each other’s passions. She and Barbara Taylor, the library CEO, were such a great team, and together did so much together to advance library service to meet the needs of the St. Marys community. In my work training and developing resources for library board members, I would often picture Eileen as the model board member! I am sure you agree, she was an amazing woman! Wishing you much comfort as you celebrate her life.

Eileen was a very knowledgeable lady. She added a great deal to our Inner Wheel Club of St.Marys and John was a committed member of the Rotary Club of St.Marys. They hosted us out at their beautiful stone house many time. Condolences.

To The Family Of Eileen...
It was a pleasure to have known Eileen, a very elegant lady. I sang with her husband John in the United Church choir and they hosted many a choir coffee time and end of year gatherings at their home. Eileen and John made a wonderful couple.
