Obituary of Linda Ruth McEwan

Linda Ruth McEwan (nee Heron) died Friday, November 4 after a courageous battle with cancer. Loving husband to Terry McEwan, married September 15, 1967. Beloved mother to Tony and Lisa, and Mark and Candy. Devoted grandmother to Brett, Travis (Sam), Carly (Josh) and Rourke (Jacklyn). Proud great-grandmother to Orrin. Sister to Shirley White and Nancy (John) Hutton. Sister-in-law to Betty Lou (John) Cull, Bob McEwan and Loiey Moir. Linda will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Predeceased by her parents George and Ruth Heron, her in-laws Gordon and Lois McEwan, her brother-in-laws Tom Montieth, Ken Moir and Bill White, and her sister-in-law Jean McEwan.

Linda grew up on a dairy farm outside of Kintore. As a child, Linda learned the importance of family, hard work and having fun. She ran a fuel business with Terry and she was an occasional teacher with the Perth County and Avon Maitland Boards of Education for many years. Linda was blessed with great friendships throughout her life. She enjoyed the social opportunities provided by playing baseball, curling and golf. Attending monthly card club, sharing books, shopping trips and travelling were precious memories for her. Linda’s family always knew how important they were to her. Holidays were always celebrated, birthdays were never missed and Sunday family dinners were a regular occurrence. Linda enjoyed being an avid sports fan with Terry, travelling around the province and country to watch their children and grandchildren compete.

Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Friday, November 11 at River Valley Golf Course, 4725 1 Line, St. Marys between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. A memorial toast will take place at 5:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth, St. Marys Healthcare Foundation, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
