Obituary of Fred Stevens
Entirely at peace and surrounded by love, Fred Stevens, of St. Marys, passed away on November 7, 2022 at the age of 77. Born in Westmount, QC on August 23, 1945 and predeceased by his parents. Fred had six brothers and one sister, he had a special place in his heart for his brother Tom (Linda) of Listowel.
Fred married the love of his life, Sue in 1972 and they were blessed with 43 years together before Sue’s passing in 2015. Cherished father of Antony (Sara), and Troy (Christine) and extremely proud grandpa of Chelsea, Dominick, Alex and Bridget.
For 41 years Fred worked for Maple Leaf Foods, right from the time it opened as Campbell Soup. He proudly worked alongside his wife Sue. When the time came both of his sons joined them, Anthony for three years and Troy still remains at the plant which gave Fred great joy as he loved to hear all of the stories and changes after his retirement.
For 25 years he was a goal light and time keeper for the St. Marys Lincolns and also enjoyed helping out with Minor Hockey.
In his retirement, he enjoyed playing cards, bowling, gardening and playing the lottery. He had many cherished days spending time with his granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers or donations, Fred asked if you would try your luck in honour of him while supporting the St. Marys Memorial Hospital’s next 50/50 draw. Tickets can be purchased through the St. Marys Healthcare Foundation at https://stmaryshealthcare.foundation/st-marys-5050/.
