Obituary of Joe Ebert
Joe Ebert, born Oct 13, 1944 in the Netherlands, immigrated to Canada at the age of 12.
Joe passed from this life to his eternal life with Christ, peacefully surrounded by his family on Nov 19, 2022 at St Marys Memorial Hospital, St Marys ON.
Survived by his wife Anna of 55 years. Sons Michael (Ray), David (Kim), Thomas (Christin), grandchildren Zachary, Seth, Aiden, Alyssa and Orianna. Brothers Henry (Lineke), Bill (Elizabeth) and extended family.
Joe was a tree farmer. His passion for growing trees spanned over 50 years. He could be found spending countless hours driving around the farm admiring the various varieties of trees. He loved to find the “sad looking” tree and make it into something majestic.
Rooted in Christ, Joe chose to follow the Lord at a young age. His unwavering faith led him into many ways of ministering to others. The many branches included youth ministries such as Junior Varsity/Youth for Christ, the C.O.F.F.E.E Group for young adults, as well as involvement with the Optimists, the local church and other missions. Joe’s nurturing character provided an open door to many other children and youths and gave them a place of comfort and refuge.
He loved tinkering on projects, working on his antique cars, or spending time teaching the grandchildren including how to use a rotary phone in his shop. He had a passion for watches and clocks, where winding them became routine and time change was always eventful.
Joe’s other passion over the last 22 years was for the people in Northern Malawi, where he and Anna started Good Hope Ministries whose motto is “Showing God’s Love, Sharing God’s Word”.
Joe will be missed and has left those who knew him with many great memories.
Joe’s Celebration of Life will be Sunday, Nov 27, 2022 at the Thorndale Community Centre 265 Upper Queen St., Thorndale, ON. Open house from 2-6 pm.
