Obituary of Robert Burns MacKay

In Loving Memory of Robert Burns MacKay
December 28, 1944 – July 2, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) MacKay.  Bob peacefully departed this world at London Health Sciences Centre on July 2, 2023, surrounded by family.

Born on December 28, 1944, Bob was the son of Edith (Moffatt) and Burns MacKay. Bob grew up on the family farm and eventually took over.

He was predeceased by his parents and beloved brother Rod. Husband to Laural (nee Schiedel) for nearly 52 years and father to Rob (Cassie), Amy, and Kathy.  Brother to Rod MacKay (Judy).  Brother-in-law to Ken Schiedel (Donna) and Joan Peters (nee Schiedel) (John, deceased).  Grandfather to Lachlan, Aelwen, Ronan, Everett, and Kelton.

Throughout his life, Bob's calling was clear—he was meant to be a farmer. His dedication to agriculture and the love for his cows, dogs, and cats were evident in every aspect of his life.  Bob always had a deep love of fishing.  For him, 14 hours on a lake would pass in the blink of an eye.  Over the years Bob and Laural spent much time at their beloved cabin.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Gatfield (Happy Valley Family Health Team), the staff at the Stratford Dialysis unit, and London Health Sciences Centre for the exceptional care provided to Bob.

Cremation to take place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada (https://kidney.ca, National Office 880-5160 Decarie Blvd.Montreal, QC H3X 2H9) or an organization of one’s choice.

Bob will forever remain in our hearts.
