Obituary of Shirley Lorraine Weston

Shirley Lorraine Weston (nee Dinwoodie) passed away peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton on Monday June 22, 2020 in her 91st. year.Shirley grew up in, and later raised her own family in the stone house built by her father on St. Vincent Street in Stratford. She ‘retired’ from there in 1994 and spent many pleasant years at Park Towers. People often commented about her natural beauty.Shirley was predeceased by an infant son, James (1952), her husband Art (1994), son Wayne (2009,) daughter-in-law Marina Weston (2017) and sons-in-law Dan Smith and Leslie Bauld (both 2018).She is survived by children Debra Bauld, Edward Weston, Kathleen Smith, Gwendolyn Aubertin and son-in-law Gerald Aubertin; 10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. She will also be dearly missed by her sister, Margaret Paiement and several nieces and nephews. Shirley chose to devote her life entirely to caring for her family. She loved each of her children for their unique talents and abilities and was always proud of their accomplishments. She was an excellent cook and made the best potato salad and the most delicious pies ever! She loved music and nature - especially trees and birds. She treated all of her children’s pets like grandchildren, always having some treat at the ready for them! Shirley’s most treasured memories were the arrival of each of her children and grandchildren, summer holidays with family at Sauble Beach or Goderich, shopping trips, and holiday and celebration dinners with her loved ones. Perhaps the best times she had were her visits with her children over a good hot coffee and a nice piece of pie, or a nice cold drink and a good thick sandwich. It was at those times one knew you had her undivided attention and unconditional love.A private family service will be held.As expressions of sympathy, donations in Shirley`s memory may be made to Knollcrest Lodge, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Rotary Hospice of Stratford Perth or Feline Friends Network of Stratford Ontario.
