Obituary of Michael John O'Hara

Michael (Mike) John O’Hara, 62, of St. Marys passed in peace on Saturday, August 12th at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, Ontario. Born November 16, 1960 to mother Shirley O’Hara (Vanstone) and father Robert John O’Hara, he is lovingly remembered by his mother and now rests at peace with his father.

Mike was the beloved husband and best friend of his childhood love, Linda O’Hara, who he married in 2014 and spent the last 9 years of his life with. After spending the majority of his life in St. Marys, he and Linda settled in Port Franks to retire together. Mike was well known for his love for the beach and spending time in Florida. He always prioritized family and those close to him, offered mentorship, and gave love unconditionally.

Also known by the nicknames “Harry”, “Mike”, and “Spike”, Mike made significant contributions to the St. Marys community. He was the 3rd generation owner of O’Hara Antiques, coordinated tradeshows for RVS, and was a dedicated DZ driver at Andemar Dust & Ice. Mike is remembered by those close to him for his accepting, understanding nature, infectious smile, and calming, one-of-a-kind voice and demeanour.

During the final months of his life, Mike was graciously cared for by his wife, Linda, as well as many dedicated leaders in healthcare including Dr. Mark Vincent; Dr. Brian Yuremko and associates at the London Health Sciences Centre; and Dr. Mike Trevail at Happy Valley. Immense gratitude is extended to Dr. Orla MacSweeney and the Pallative Care team at Bluewater Health for their compassion and support in his final days.

Brother of Janice (Harry), Nancy (Lothar), and Jeff; father of Sara (Dennis), Josh (Taylor), Houston (Mackenzie), Samantha (Annanth), and Olivia (Geon); grandfather to Clayton Dale and Madeline O’Hara. Uncle of his nieces and nephews; great uncle of his great nieces and great nephews. Cherished by many close friends who loved him dearly.

A private burial and ceremony of life will be taking place at a later date.
