Obituary of Donald Wilson
Don passed away peacefully at St. Marys Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at the age of 86 years. Beloved husband of the late Jean (nee Scott) Wilson who predeceased him June 18, 2021. Loving father of Warren (Lorraine), Sandra McFarlane (John), and Perry (Robin). Loving and proud grandfather of Jacqueline Blake (Evan), Natalie Wilson (Scott Lean), Michelle Wilson (Marcus O’Connor), Sean Orr (Kalan Lynn), Ryan Orr, Theresa Billings (John), Jennifer Simmonds (Tim), Connor Wilson (Michaela Fazio), and Carlie Wilson (Gordie May); and great-grandfather of Helen Simmonds, William O’Connor, Reilly O’Connor, Colton Blake, and Dylan Blake. Also remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Rick and Nancy Scott and Jo-Anne and Allan Lounds. Don was predeceased by his brother Jack Wilson (Marion), and sisters Doris Batten (George), Marjorie Kennedy (Al), and Grace Sayles (Dr. Robert). Forever missed by many nieces and nephews and friends.
Don was a farmer and a millwright, having been employed at Canada Cement Lafarge for 35 years. He was an extreme sports enthusiast and loved the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was a member of the St. Marys Golf and Country Club, Union Bowling league, and a past Master at the Doric Masonic Lodge #569 Lakeside. He was fun loving man who always put his family first.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held at the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington Street, S. St. Marys on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. Marys United Church, 85 Church St. S. St. Marys on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11 a.m. A private family interment in St. Marys Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St Marys Healthcare Foundation, P.O. Box 940 St. Marys, ON N4X 1B6, would be appreciated by the family.
The Wilson family will be forever grateful to the staff at St. Marys Memorial Hospital and the Happy Valley Health Care Team for their professional, compassionate and competent care that was given to their father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
