Obituary of Manifred Raymond Petrie

On October 20 2023 at 4:20 pm at Stratford General Hospital, Manifred Raymond Petrie passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, at the age of 87.

Survived by his wife Edythe, married for 56 years, his children Raymond (Nancy), Roberta (Don Brown), John (Julie) and Jim. Grandchildren Madeline, Adam, Rachel, Kate, Lucy, Grayson, Ryerson, Holden, and Roen, and his brothers Dennis and Robert and many nieces and nephews. Survived by brothers and sisters-in-law John Feehan, Ted Thomas, Linda Petrie, Joanne Petrie, Ed Cassidy, Lenore Haycock, Rudy McIntosh, Ross McIntosh (Lois), Elaine Smith (Jim), Donald McIntosh (Joanne) and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his mother and father, Clara Bender and Emerson. His brothers and sisters Emerson (Marie), Marion, Shirley, Helen Pryke, Donna (Don), Lois (John), Marlene, Ken, Gary, Earl (Josephine), and Karen Petrie. Brother-in-law Doug Haycock and Glen McIntosh (Ann), and sister-in-law Barbara McIntosh.

He worked at the White Packing Company then he began his career as a brakeman/conductor with CN Rail where he worked for 35 years. Fred was a skilled stonemason and a carpenter. He was a jack of all trades. He loved dancing, singing, country music, his birds, planting his fruit trees, tending to his garden, playing sports, coaching sports, and watching his Jays and Leafs. He enjoyed fishing with the Boat Lake Bongers every May “24” weekend and hunting with his community friends.

Family and friends are invited to the ST. MARYS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 147 Widder St. E., St. Marys, on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023 for visitation from 10 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 am.

The Funeral Service will be livestreamed through the St. Marys Presbyterian Church Facebook page,

A private family interment will take place at Colpoys Cemetery at a later date.
