Obituary of Diane Sherwood

Judith Diane Sherwood, age 82 of Avonton, passed away peacefully at Spruce Lodge Nursing Home on December 29, 2023. Born in London, November 22, 1941, the daughter of the late Winnifred (Anderson) and Jack Banks.

Beloved wife of Al Sherwood for 45 years. Loving mother of Karleen Glanville (Roy), Doug Rodwell (Cathy), Karl Rodwell (Bonnie), Richard Sherwood (Shari), John Sherwood (Susan), Robert Sherwood (Lalitha), Cynthia Sherwood, Ruth Davis (Dan), Irene Bearss (Dan), and Yvonne Vernon (Jim). Grandmother of 20, Great-Grandmother of 24, Great Great-Grandmother of 5.

Survived by sisters Carol Anderson, Bev Grigg (Ted), and Ruth Anne Kammerer (Willi); sisters-in-law Mary Carol Sherwood, Carol Bridges, Cathy Reilly, Susan Quintana and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by sister Christine Eggett, sister-in-law Sheri (Norma) Sherwood, and great granddaughter Sienna Kok; and brothers-in-law Don Bridges, Ralph Clark, Bob Hoffmann, Bruce Eggett, Ed Reilly, Bernie Quintana and Harry Sherwood.

Diane worked many years as a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital, then owned and operated Windmill Trailer Park with her husband Al near Fullarton prior to retiring to the house they built in Avonton.

Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to a visitation at the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington St. S. St. Marys on Friday, January 5 from to 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Marys Presbyterian Church, 147 Widder St. E., St. Marys, on Saturday, January 6 at 1 p.m.

Reception in the church hall following the Memorial Service.

Interment in Avonbank Cemetery at a later date.
