We were so sorry to hear of Gregg’s passing. Having met Gregg at different occasions over the years, we had grown very fond of his wit and wry sense of humour, wonderful family traits of the Howe clan. A fun and memorable guy, we hope to hear and share stories of Gregg’s escapades in the future. Janice and Clyde

Dace Smits, Riga, Latvia posted a condolence
Gregg's razor-sharp wit was legendary, but behind the fun-loving, gregarious Gregg was a kind soul who would greet me in the halls, often stopping to ask how I was doing. I hadn't thought of Gregg since high school, but reading about his much too early death, today, I was reminded of an unexpected evening of listening to music at the Howe home—after a school event—with Gregg in his element: waxing poetic about his favourite bands, his humorous observations about school life keeping us in stitches.

Terry Green posted a condolence
Dear Pattye, Chris, Nathan, Graham, Gina and families It was sad to hear Gregg passed this week. I think he must have poked me on the way by because I suddenly had an urge to look him up, and that's when I found the sad news. He did indeed possess the Howe wit - and also the Howe independence. Gregg lived life on his own terms, and his own way. My mom always had a spot in her heart for Gregg. The world is a little bit darker without his light in it. I know it's hard, but I pray you can find joy and comfort in your memories of Gregg. Most Sincerely Terry Green

Laura-Lee Thomas posted a condolence
Laura-Lee Thomas Dear Graham, Gina, Pattye, Chris, Nathan and families I was saddened to hear of Gregg's passing. Gregg had a smile and charm that would light up a room. I recall, with fondness, happy times shared with Gregg and Pattye at Graham's annual Halloween Party in Toronto and at Graham and Gina's wedding so many years ago. Your wit always had us in stitches. Gregg, I hope you have found a gently flowing river to paddle down, while family and friends cherish the countless memories that we shared with you.

We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Gregg. He was a constant presence at Medway for many years and was quick to ask how you were doing and how the team you were coaching was doing. As members of the coaching staff for Medway Girls Hockey team we were always delighted to see Gregg enthusiastically cheering the team to victory and the girls would always look for him in the crowd. Whether it was wearing a Medway hockey jersey on game day or seeing the bus off for road games with a blast from his airhorn, Gregg’s positive presence lifted the spirits of those he came in contact with. He will be missed.

Melody Tigani posted a condolence
Melody Tigani I was very sad to hear of Greg's passing. We were good friends when we were younger and we had interesting conversations during those years. One time as I remember, on a drizzly summer, Sunday afternoon Greg and I met up. I do not remember where we were headed or doing, but I met up with him not far from his family's home at the corner where the Scotia Bank is now. Greg walked up and he had an umbrella and curlers in his hair. I said, "You have curlers in your hair" and her replied, "My hair isn't dry yet". I accepted that and we carried on. I believe Greg marched to the beat of his own drum. It is comforting to know he was surrounded by his loving family. My deepest condolences to his family.

Laura Douglas posted a condolence
Pattye, Chris and Nathan, I'm a Medway alumni of over 10 years ago and I'm brought to tears reading this. Gregg reminds me of the quote: “People will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Gregg was one of those people who through my 4 years at Medway constantly checked in on me, wished me luck with my field hockey and rugby games and was even there cheering on the side lines even at an memorable OFFSA away game. Seeing him in his Medway jersey on game day, joking with me as I walked in the front door each morning, from cheering me on from the sidelines: Greg always made me smile. I can only imagine the pain you feel knowing that the presence of Gregg is gone, but I pray for your comfort and peace during these times knowing that he will be now watching over you from above with that smile we all loved so much. Laura Douglas

Sherry Titus posted a condolence
So sorry to hear of Gregg’s passing. My sympathies to his wife and family. Gregg was such a huge part of the Medway family for many years. As a teacher-coach, I know how much his support meant to the athletes, especially the girls’ teams who sometimes felt overshadowed by the boys. I enjoyed chatting with him at games, even after his retirement. Gregg (and his air horn) will be missed!

Great memories of Greg growing up with Charlie Near and Roger Frayne. Super sense of humor; along with his passion for rock music which was unparalleled. He used to stop by my house on the way to DCVI for breakfast most weekdays. Seems like Mom always cooked some extra eggs just for Greg. My condolences to his family. Dr. Mathew McIntosh Maryland, USA

Too young to leave us, but oh, the memories! My brother Kim and I would often go to the Howe's place on Wellington St. in St Marys and spend the afternoons listening to music. What an education for a young teenager! Always some nice incense burning. Gregg was a cerebral man with a cutting sense of humour. He did not suffer fools. His escapades were legendary. I thank Gregg for helping pave my way to a lifelong devotion to art and music. He will truly be missed, but I am sure he is shaking them up right now on the other side!

I am so sorry, after over 3 years, to hear about the passing of Gregg. I had the double pleasure of knowing Gregg - first in high school at St Mary’s, and again, many years later when I worked at Medway High School. He was always funny, outrageous, philosophical, kind - and he was very secure in who he was. The world was a better place with Gregg in it. I never knew for sure if the rumour that he was involved in painting “beware of sharks” at the St Mary’s quarry was true or not (he would never say) but it wouldn’t surprise me if he was the brains behind it. My sincere condolences to his family. Gregg was one of a kind.
