Gregg Howe

Obituary of Gregg Howe

Gregg Howe passed away at home on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the age of 67.Gregg will be dearly missed by his wife Pattye. His sons Christopher and Stacy of St. Marys, and Nathan and Carolyn of Lucan. Grandpa to Brandan and Meg of Aylmer and Mike of St. Marys. Great-Granddad to James and Thomas. He will be greatly missed by his brother Graham and Gina and their daughter Holly from Elora. Gregg Howe passed away on his own terms, at home in Kirkton. He rarely spoke of his cancer throughout 2020. It was his way of not letting his illness possess his mind, while it took over his body. He did it his way and we love him for it.Gregg found his soulmate in Pattye Armstrong 45 years ago. They have been married for 43 years. They raised two boys, Chris and Nathan, both blessed with the Howe sense of humour so prevalent in their father. Their own spouses, Stacy and Carolyn, experience it regularly.Gregg, Pattye and the boys spent years paddling and fishing the Saugeen River from their seasonal campsite at Saugeen Bluffs. Gregg’s grandson, Brendan, who was Grandpa’s best fishing buddy, canoed with him on the Saugeen River in August for his last fishing trip. They caught nothing… but love. The students at Medway High School in Arva nicknamed him “Woodstock” because of his long hair; he enjoyed that. They were his second family. Gregg was only 67 years old. As a family, we regret that we won’t have new memories of him going forward, but he leaves us with plenty that we can reminisce about for the rest of our lives. As per his wishes, Gregg has been cremated. An Open House Celebration of Life will be held at the ST. MARYS LEGION, 66 Church St. North, St. Marys on Sunday, November 15th. Please RSVP for a visiting time by contacting the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, call 519-284-2820 or email rsvphodges@gmail.com.Memorial donations may be made to the Girls Rugby or Hockey teams at Medway High School.
