Obituary of Marjorie Agnes Pfaff 1930-2019
Suddenly at Cedarcroft Place, Stratford, on Thursday, December 12, 2019, Marjorie Pfaff, age 89.Predeceased by her loving husband Harvey Pfaff (2018) with whom she enjoyed almost seventy years of happy marriage. Dear mother of Larry Pfaff (Catherine) and Barbara Holliday (Doug). She adored her eight grandchildren – Alexander Pfaff, Rosalind Pfaff (Fredrik Hejdenberg); Chris Holliday (Marla), Jenny Roth (Brad), Jim Holliday (Allie), Matt Holliday (Erin), Ashley Goodson (Dan), Courtney Beech (Ben). She enjoyed being Old Grandma to fourteen great-grandchildren – Ruby, Hazel; Braedan, Turner, Brooklynn, Max; James, Katie, Charlotte; Violet, Weston; Louisa; Eleanor, Jolee Mayme.Born in Zurich, Ontario, she was the only much-loved child of Mary Agnes Lamont and Lee W. Hoffmann. She attended the Zurich Continuation School where she made life-long friends. A resident of St Marys since 1955, she was very active in the United Church for many years, including singing in the Senior Choir, as the Junior Choir mother, and as UCW supporter and worker. Like her parents before her, she was a talented musician: she acted as the accompanist for St Marys Community Theatre productions and for the Bickell Family Choristers, as the pianist in the St Marys Orchestra, and the long-time organist at the L.A. Ball Funeral Home. She was instrumental in the founding of the Meals on Wheels program in St Marys, an organization with which she was involved for 25 years.Kind, generous and highly sociable, Marjorie was a storyteller who retained to the very end her remarkable memory and her excellent sense of humour.Visitation will be held at the ST. MARYS UNITED CHURCH (85 Church St S., St Marys) on Thursday, December 19 from 4:30 p.m to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the St. Marys United Church on Friday, December 20 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in St Marys Cemetery in the spring.Donations in her memory may be made to the St. Marys United Church or the St. Marys Health Care Foundation.
