Obituary of Bev Coveny

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Patrick Beverly ‘Bev” Coveny on September 9, 2017. Bev was taken from us tragically in his 74th year. He was born on June 4th, 1943 in Chatham ON and moved to St. Marys in 1975, where he became very active in the farming community.Devoted husband of Irma (Schepens) Coveny, whom he married on January 11, 1964. Proud father of Pat Coveny (Sue), Tracey Thomson (Marty) and Chris Coveny (Michelle). Loving and dedicated Grandpa of Nicole Pickel (Burton), Cody Coveny, Jamie and Kayla Walsh, Brittany McNaughton (Mike), Emily McNaughton (Tyler), Sam Thomson (Shelby), Ben Coveny (Madeline), and Julia Coveny. Amazing Great Grandpa of Rowan and Brynlee Pickel. Predeceased by his parents, Francis and Kathleen (Brown) Coveny. Also survived by his siblings Jerry Coveny (Joan), Mary Jane McGaffey (Danny) and Barb Regan (Ronnie). Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.Bev will be remembered for his strong faith, family traditions, and his ability to bring humour to everyone’s day. He was committed to his family through his tireless and selfless acts of love. He will be forever remembered for his love of attending his grandchildrens’ extra curricular activities. He was an active member of his community. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, woodworking, and gardening. Bev enjoyed connecting with people and found friends wherever he went.Cremation has taken place. Visitation at the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington St. S. St. Marys (519-284-2820) on Friday, Sept 22, from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, Sept. 23, at HOLY NAME OF MARY PARISH, Northeast corner of Widder St. E. and Peel St. N., from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Philip Joseph.Donations can be made to London Health Sciences Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association, and the War Amps.
