Obituary of William Douglas Heard

William Douglas Heard passed away peacefully, but unexpectedly, at St. Marys Memorial Hospital on January 15, 2017 in his 79th year.Survived by his wife of 57 years, Eileen (Cook); his children Pat and Gary, Jennifer, and Rob and Kelly. Proud grandfather of Ben and Jordan. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law of Florence Heard, Rod and Carole Cook, Leona Thornton, Murray and Joyce Cook, Gord Dantzer, and Shirley and Norm McNaught. Predeceased by his parents Mervin and Hazel Heard, parents-in-law Orval and Velma Cook, his siblings; Arthur (Dorothy), Ruth (Cliff), Kay (Keith), Vel (Cec), Alvin, Russell, Ray, siblings-in-law Frank (Linda) and Marj Dantzer.William was employed by the Town of St. Marys at the arena and community centre for over 30 years, long-time player and coach for the Lakeside Stampeders, member of the Stonetown Entertainers, St. Marys Legion Br. 236, Men’s Bowling League, enjoyed golf and was an avid fan of any team from Detroit.Cremation has taken place. A celebration of William’s life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
