Obituary of Dr. James Howard Loucks
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandpa/Poppy, on December 21st, 2021, six days short of his 89th birthday.
Loving husband of Donna Marie (Holmes) Loucks for 41 years and Margaret Jean Grigg (deceased 1978). Jim is the proud father of Jim (Connie); Joe (Lisa); Bill (deceased 2019) (Jayne);Geoffrey; Doug (Corinne); Jay (Lisa). He was also Poppy to Chris and Candice; Justin, Kyle, Alyssa and Ashley; Ryan and Breanne; Nigel and Cacheal; Baillie and Larissa; Julia, Grace and Bella. Great Grandfather to 19. Born in St. Thomas the eldest child of Alvin and Thelma (Winter) Loucks, dear brother to Mary Lou Schultz and Bob (deceased), Dani Reid (Len and Bill deceased), Paul and Bev, Barbara and Dave (both deceased). Fondly remembered by sisters- in-law Gail Hyde (Tom Deceased), Mary and Rob Pierce, the Grigg family, as well as many extended family members.
Jim spent his summer breaks while studying at the University of Toronto Dental school working on the Canadian Pacific Railway for seven years. After practicing for two years in London, he set up his practice in St. Marys, ON and in 1959 he went on to run his practice for 48 years. Jim loved his town and gave back to his community as a part of Town Committees, Lions Club and Masonic Lodge member for over 60 years. He was more interested in what he could do for others and the community than having attention on himself. His involvement in the Lions Club and Dental conventions took him on travels around the world, among his favourite trips were those with his family and friends. All who knew him remember his big smile, hearty laugh and his insuring character. A friend to many around the world, and one to never turn down a libation with friends. He was a lover of golf, cards, fishing and jazz. We will be finding books with underlined passages for years to come. He will be missed by his wife, his children, his grandchildren, many friends, neighbours and community at large. We will never forget his kindness, generosity, integrity, honesty and love.
We thank Kingsway Lodge for the care they provided over the last 18 months.
