To the MacKay family,
My sincerest condolences on the loss of your husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Mr. MacKay (as I knew him) was the best teacher I ever had - and I know many students shared that sentiment. I was a student in his 7th grade class the last year he taught full time and I’ll always remember how fun but also considerate he was. He taught us about the war of 1812 by teaching us a song; he let me skip track and field day when I complained too much; he took us on little joy rides around the teachers’ parking lot when he bought a red mustang convertible to celebrate his retirement; I could go on and on (as I’m sure many of his students could). I’m proud to have been taught by such a kind and wonderful man.
I’m so sorry for your loss.

I’m so sorry to hear about Doug’s passing. I have great memories from the band days & the fun we all had. When I think of Doug one particular memory comes to mind. We all went for a night time swim at Lakeside after participating in a parade & Doug gave us a ride home. What makes this memorable is the fact that Doug’s old car had no windshield. It was a breezy ride home to say nothing about all the bugs.
May your memories of Doug comfort you & your family at this time.

To the Mackay family — I was a former student of Mr. Mackay’s in the 90s. I will always remember his trumpet playing, and this game he played called “Happy Un-Birthday” where he would launch a chocolate bar to someone in the class on their “Un-birthday”. He loved to have fun — what a vital and surprisingly rare trait to have. Wonderful memories. Sending condolences.

Deepest sympathy to the MacKay Family. Doug was a remarkable man who had the ability to make anyone who knew him feel as though they mattered. From times spent at KB's working on or talking about cars, to the kids swimming in the pool, all great memories that helped mold our children into who they are today. It takes a special kind of person to have the ability to have such an impact on those who knew him, and Doug was that kind of man.

I have wonderful memories of being 'Mr. MacKay's' student at Plover Mills. He was a fantastic teacher who really made a difference in my life. He always went the extra mile, had kind words and you did not get out of his Grade 7 class without knowing proper grammar!
Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

My deepest condolences to the Mackay Family on your loss.
I will always remember family swims at your pool when I was a little girl (and being too loud when Doug was trying to nap haha) and whenever I was over at Grandma and Gramps Lindsay's house, I could almost always count on Doug dropping by for a visit, like clockwork.
Thanks for the memories. Rest Easy.
