Obituary of Magdalena Zulma Van De Walle

Magdalena Zulma Van De Walle, born in Oostakker, Belgium on May 30, 1931, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Feb. 26, 2023 at the age of 91.

She was the beloved wife of the late Maurice Van De Walle and dear mother of Beatrice Crowley (Dave), Paul Van De Walle (Maureen), Jerry Van De Walle, Morris Van De Walle (Irene), and Betty Visser (Jeff). She is predeceased by her husband Maurice and twin sons Martin and Anthony. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as extended family members in Canada and Belgium.

Our mom was a woman of strong faith and prayer who loved her family deeply. She was a devoted wife to our dad for their many happy years together and a hardworking partner on their dairy farm until their retirement to St. Marys. She had a passion for sewing, knitting and crocheting and created many beautiful items for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also sewed curtains as a retirement job and made many items for homeless shelters, church bazaars and the poor in Haiti. Her door was always open for a visit and a pot of coffee was ready. We know she will continue to watch over and pray for us all just as she always has.

Visitation at HOLY NAME OF MARY PARISH, Northeast corner of Peel St. N. and Widder St. E., St. Marys, on March 7, 2023 from 1 - 3 followed by Parish Prayers. Evening visitation from 6 - 8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY NAME OF MARY PARISH on March 8, 2023 at 11 am. Burial following in St. Marys Cemetery.
