It is with great sadness that I hear of "Bill's" passing. He was a colleague, mentor and dear friend of my father who also taught at Clarke Road H.S. His name and his adventures were always discussed at home. When I came of age, I also was encouraged and mentored by him. I remember one occasion when he extricated me from a snow bank in the flats parking lot, where I was stuck, after attempting doughnuts in my father's car. He called me an idiot, and he was right.

Bill and Barbara were good friends of my parents, Jack and Dory Metcalfe, when he taught at General Amherst High School in Amherstburg. I remember them talking fondly of the Weirs.

I remember babysitting for Mr Weir when I was in Gr 13 at Clarke Road. That was a couple of years ago.
Another indelible memory was when
(in Science class in the middle of a lesson) he disappeared into his equipment room and reappeared with a hammer. He kept coming toward where I sat and put it on my desk and said, "Next time he (Norm Cuttiford) puts his elbows back here on your desk....let him have it."
What a sense of humour!
What a guy!
My sincere sympathy to your family!

You taught my father the first year Clarke Rd SS opened in London and you were still there for my first year there. When I moved to St Mary's and you walked in CT I was amazed. My father was so happy to know you were still around. It was a pleasure to see you ever time you came in. You will be missed.
My condolences to your family

I'm so sorry to hear about Bill's passing. He was always a lot of fun when I would visit him at the farm - always a new project (a lot of them never finished, but fun nonetheless) e.g., an AMC Gremlin repurposed to be a greenhouse, only to have a groundhog break into it through the floorboards and eat everything germinating.....
Lots of fun memories.
